Top 5 Foot Pain Conditions & How to Treat them from Home

At Foot Solutions we're no strangers to foot pain. While there are many different causes of foot pain, some conditions are more common than others. Here are the top 5 foot pain conditions and some actions you can take to treat them from home.

Plantar Fasciitis: Plantar Fasciitis is a condition that causes pain in the heel and bottom of the foot. It is caused by inflammation of the plantar fascia, a thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot. Treatment options include rest, ice, stretching, and wearing supportive shoes or orthotics. Clients also really appreciate the Oofos sandals to help relieve stress on the heel on hardwood and tile floors.

Achilles Tendinitis: Achilles Tendinitis is a condition that causes pain in the back of the heel and calf. It is caused by inflammation of the Achilles tendon, which connects the calf muscles to the heel bone. Treatment options include rest, ice, stretching, as well as wearing supportive shoes or orthotics.

Metatarsalgia: Metatarsalgia is a condition that causes pain and inflammation in the ball of the foot. It is often caused by overuse or injury to the metatarsal bones in the foot. Treatment options include rest, ice, wearing supportive, rocker soled shoes or orthotics, and using metatarsal pads or cushions.

Morton's Neuroma: Morton's Neuroma is a condition that causes pain and numbness in the ball of the foot. It is caused by a thickening of the tissue around the nerves that run between the metatarsal bones. Treatment options include rest, ice, wearing supportive shoes or orthotics, and using metatarsal pads or cushions.

Sesamoiditis: Sesamoiditis is a condition that causes pain in the ball of the foot, specifically around the sesamoid bones. It is caused by overuse or injury to the bones and surrounding tissue. Treatment options include rest, ice, wearing supportive shoes or orthotics, and using metatarsal pads or cushions.
